China Southern Airlines will reconnect Adelaide with Guangzhou, starting December 12, 2024. This service marks the return of a key route for South Australia, as the airline resumes its flights three times per week between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) and Adelaide Airport (ADL). The service was paused in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
Key Route for South Australian Tourism and Trade
The return of China Southern Airlines is a major win for South Australia’s tourism and trade sectors. South Australia, whose second-largest international tourism market is China, will benefit from this connection. The economic impact of these flights is projected to generate over $69 million annually and create more than 255 tourism-related jobs.
China Southern Airlines’ Fleet and Global Network
China Southern Airlines will operate this route with its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, capable of carrying 266 passengers in a two-class configuration. With over 900 aircraft in its fleet, the airline provides extensive global connectivity. This route not only links Adelaide and Guangzhou but also connects South Australia to broader markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America through China Southern’s international network.
New Flight Schedule to Boost Global Connections
China Southern Airlines will fly from Guangzhou every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with flight CZ663 departing at 22:15 and arriving in Adelaide the following morning at 09:55. Return flight CZ664 will leave Adelaide at 11:30 and arrive back in Guangzhou at 18:05. These flights will also support South Australia’s exports, making it easier to send products like fresh seafood directly to China.
Resuming Flights to Support Growth
By resuming this route, China Southern Airlines reinforces its commitment to strengthening ties with South Australia. The return of this service not only promises to enhance tourism but also supports trade by improving market access for South Australian exporters.
