British Airways (BA) brings exciting news for travelers. The airline will resume Airbus A380 flights from London Heathrow to Boston Logan next summer. Previously, the airline had no plans to operate this iconic aircraft. However, after a recent schedule update, BA will now bring back the 469-seat superjumbo starting March 30, 2025.
At the end of March, BA will fly the A380 daily on the Heathrow-Boston route until October 29, 2024. This return marks the start of the summer 2025 aviation season. Moreover, the A380 will replace the Boeing 787-10, allowing BA to redeploy the aircraft. Flights will include BA213, departing Heathrow at 14:30 and arriving in Boston at 16:50. The flight duration is 7 hours and 20 minutes. Meanwhile, BA212 will leave Boston at 19:10 and land in London at 06:50 the next day, taking 6 hours and 40 minutes.
The London-Boston route stays busy. 651,000 passengers traveled roundtrip in the year ending July 2024. That averages 1,784 travelers each day. Additionally, many passengers connect to other flights at Heathrow, mainly from Mumbai and Delhi. In Boston, most travelers connect to Washington Reagan.
Next summer, five airlines will operate flights between London and Boston. Therefore, travelers will have many options. British Airways will operate three daily flights with the A380, Boeing 777-200ER, and 787-10. American Airlines will offer daily service using the Boeing 777-200ER. Furthermore, Delta Air Lines will provide daily service on the A330neo. JetBlue will begin daily flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, using the A321LR. Moreover, Virgin Atlantic will increase from 11 weekly flights to double daily service in May.
Despite JetBlue’s added capacity, flights from April to September 2025 will decrease by 7%. This drop compares to the previous year. However, take-offs have increased by 5% compared to 2019, despite a lower average seat count. JetBlue’s entry into the market caused this change.
BA will continue daily A380 flights to Boston in June 2025. It will also serve other destinations, including Johannesburg and Los Angeles. However, BA will stop flying the A380 to Dallas/Fort Worth. Instead, it will use the A350-1000 on that route.
British Airways will bring back the A380 to Boston, adding valuable capacity to this route. Therefore, BA continues to offer flexible and convenient travel options. Lastly, don’t forget to check WentWorld.com and follow our social media channels for ultimate travel tips and destination guides.
