British Airways is canceling its entire summer 2025 flight schedule from Southampton Airport, impacting routes to several European destinations. The airline had previously planned weekly flights to popular locations like Palma de Mallorca, Faro, Bergerac, and Malaga. However, with these plans scrapped, Southampton Airport will no longer see service to Bergerac or Malaga, as British Airways was the only carrier offering flights to these cities.
While this decision significantly reduces British Airways’ presence at Southampton Airport, the overall impact on the airport is less severe. EasyJet, another major airline, will continue to operate flights to Palma de Mallorca and Faro, maintaining some level of connectivity for travelers. EasyJet is one of six airlines still running out of Southampton, ensuring the airport remains active despite British Airways’ exit.
Southampton Airport continues to see substantial traffic even after British Airways’ withdrawal. Monthly flight data indicates that over 1,200 flights will operate each month during the summer of 2025. Six airlines, including Loganair, Aer Lingus, Blue Islands, Aurigny, easyJet, and KLM, are committed to serving the airport. Loganair holds the largest market share, with routes to Edinburgh and Newcastle, and Aer Lingus maintains a strong presence with flights to Dublin and Belfast.
Blue Islands, a regional carrier focused on the Channel Islands, also plays a key role at Southampton. With up to four daily flights to Jersey and Guernsey, it maintains nearly 200 flights each month. Meanwhile, easyJet dominates the low-cost market at Southampton Airport, operating routes to destinations like Alicante and Glasgow. Their larger aircraft allow them to serve more passengers compared to other carriers at the airport.
Despite British Airways stepping away from Southampton, the airport’s future looks stable. With multiple carriers continuing to offer essential connections, Southampton Airport remains a crucial hub for regional travel, especially during the busy summer season.
