British Airways has decided to keep flights between London and Bahrain, reversing plans to cancel them. The airline made this choice after consulting with partners and stakeholders. As a result, flights from London Heathrow to Bahrain International will continue with three weekly services starting in Summer 2025. The airline will increase the frequency to daily flights from Winter 2025.
This decision follows ongoing issues with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines that power British Airways’ Boeing 787s. The airline has struggled with supply delays, affecting its long-haul operations. Although British Airways initially planned to reduce services, it chose to continue its Bahrain route despite these setbacks.
Gulf Air, Bahrain’s flag carrier, also operates flights between London and Bahrain using its Boeing 787-9s. However, British Airways faces challenges with its own fleet due to the engine supply issues. Many airlines using Rolls-Royce engines face similar problems in 2025. Despite these hurdles, British Airways continues to prioritize its Bahrain service.
British Airways will add a few more flights in 2025. However, growth will remain slow. Supply delays from Rolls-Royce limit the airline’s ability to expand. The airline plans only a modest increase in long-haul flights compared to previous years.
British Airways will adapt to these challenges while adjusting its fleet and schedules. Despite the global supply chain issues, the airline remains committed to maintaining services like the Bahrain route.
