British Airways Pulls Airbus A380 from Dallas/Fort Worth Next Summer: What You Need to Know

British Airways is making significant changes to its North American network for summer 2025, including a major shift at Dallas/Fort Worth. The airline will transition its flights from London Heathrow Terminal 5 to Terminal 3, with the Airbus A380 no longer operating at the Texas airport.

Changes to British Airways’ Dallas/Fort Worth Service

Since July 2022, British Airways has used the Airbus A380 to serve Dallas/Fort Worth. This superjumbo, with a capacity of 469 seats, has been a key part of BA’s transatlantic service, especially given Dallas/Fort Worth’s status as a major hub for BA’s joint venture partner, American Airlines. However, the airline will now replace the A380 with the Boeing 777-200ER starting March 30, 2025.

Flight Equipment Adjustments for Dallas/Fort Worth

As of September 13, 2024, the A380 will operate daily flights until October 26, 2024. From October 27 to December 31, 2024, the A380 will switch to the 777-300ER. From January 1, 2025, until March 29, 2025, the A380 will return. After March 30, 2025, the 777-200ER will replace the A380, coinciding with the move of Dallas/Fort Worth operations to Terminal 3.

Impact on British Airways’ Passenger Traffic

By using the 777 next summer, British Airways will reduce seating capacity per flight by more than half compared to the A380. This change aims to address issues with load factors, fares, and yields. In 2023, British Airways carried 259,000 roundtrip passengers between Dallas/Fort Worth and London. Despite high capacity, the airline only filled 80% of the seats, down from 85% in 2019. The reduced load likely impacted fares and yields. Remember to check WentWorld.com and follow our social media channels for ultimate travel tips and destination guides.
