British Airways Revamps Loyalty Program with Bigger Rewards

British Airways has redesigned its loyalty program, bringing bigger rewards and faster tier upgrades for frequent flyers. The airline aims to enhance the travel experience by making status upgrades more achievable while maintaining valuable perks. These changes address customer concerns about the shift to a spend-based system.

Initially, the airline planned to replace mileage-based tier qualifications with spending requirements, making it harder to reach elite status. However, British Airways adjusted its approach, allowing members to qualify through flight counts. Passengers can now attain Bronze status with 25 flights and Silver with 50 flights.

British Airways also improved its tier points system. Members now earn one tier point for each £1 spent, but the airline has introduced higher bonuses. Short-haul economy passengers now receive 75 bonus tier points, while long-haul economy travelers earn 150. Business class travelers benefit the most, with 400 bonus points instead of 210.

Additionally, members who renew or upgrade their status by 31 March 2025 will retain their tier until 30 April 2026. This allows them to continue earning points under the updated model for another year. The program includes eligible spend categories such as base fares, extra services, airline fees, and sustainable aviation fuel contributions.

With these adjustments, British Airways ensures its loyalty program remains competitive. The revised structure rewards frequent flyers more generously, making it easier to achieve elite status. These updates reflect the airline’s commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction while maintaining a rewarding travel experience.
