Cathay Pacific is strengthening its presence in mainland China with a new direct route connecting Hong Kong and Urumqi. This expansion not only enhances regional connectivity but also aligns with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. As the airline continues to grow, travelers will now have even more options for seamless journeys.
Starting April 28, 2025, Cathay Pacific will operate four weekly flights between Hong Kong and Urumqi. The journey will take just 5.5 hours, making travel between these two cities faster and more convenient. Moreover, the Airbus A330-300 aircraft will serve this route, offering both business and economy-class cabins for a comfortable flying experience.
Urumqi plays a crucial role in international trade, serving as a key gateway between China, Europe, and Central Asia. By launching this direct route, Cathay Pacific not only strengthens economic ties but also provides a vital connection for both business and leisure travelers. As a result, the airline continues to reinforce its commitment to global connectivity.
Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific is expanding its global footprint with new routes across Asia, Europe, and North America. In fact, this year alone, the airline has added multiple destinations, demonstrating its goal of serving 100 global locations by 2025. Additionally, alongside its flagship carrier, HK Express is also growing its reach, offering budget-friendly travel to several new cities.
In addition to the Urumqi route, Cathay Pacific is relaunching flights to Rome while introducing new services to other major international cities. Notably, the airline is focusing on both premium and budget travel, ensuring passengers have diverse choices. At the same time, HK Express is expanding its offerings in Japan and Vietnam, catering to budget-conscious travelers.
With these strategic expansions, Cathay Pacific remains a dominant force in the aviation industry. Its growing network not only improves accessibility but also supports global connectivity. As the airline moves forward, it continues to enhance its services, bringing the world even closer together.
