Cathay Pacific is resuming direct flights to Rome this summer. Starting June 12, the airline will offer a thrice-weekly service from Hong Kong to Rome Fiumicino. Not only does this addition mark Rome as the second Italian destination, but it also becomes the 12th European city in its network. Interestingly, this return aligns with Rome’s preparation for the Catholic Church’s Jubilee in 2025, a major event held every 25 years.

This seasonal service will complement Cathay Pacific’s existing flights to Milan, which will increase to daily during the summer. Furthermore, the expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to connecting travelers to Europe’s cultural and historical centers. Notably, the Airbus A350-900, known for its comfortable seating across all classes, will operate these flights.

Rome, with its famous landmarks and rich history, continues to attract tourists and cultural enthusiasts alike. Therefore, Cathay Pacific’s return caters to both leisure and business travelers, especially those attending the Jubilee celebrations. Moreover, the relaunch is part of the airline’s broader strategy to expand its global network post-pandemic.

The proposed schedule shows flight CX293 leaving Hong Kong at 00:45 and arriving in Rome at 7:50. Meanwhile, the return flight, CX292, will depart Rome at 11:45 and land in Hong Kong at 5:20 the next day. These flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Previously, Cathay Pacific flew this route until early 2020, before the pandemic halted international travel. Before that, the airline operated daily summer flights with reduced frequencies in other seasons.

Cathay Pacific focuses on reestablishing Hong Kong as a major global aviation hub. Consequently, the airline aims to expand its network to 100 destinations by the end of the year. New routes, such as Hyderabad, Dallas, Munich, and Brussels, will offer more travel options and convenience for passengers.
