The Changi Airport Group has opened Nexus One, a new air logistics center at the Changi Airfreight Centre (CAC). This facility offers about 8,000 square meters of warehouse space, designed for high efficiency with direct apron access. It will house two tenants, thereby allowing quick cargo processing and supporting air logistics companies that seek to grow globally through Singapore.

Moreover, Nexus One is a major upgrade to Changi Airport’s logistics capacity. This improvement addresses the rising demand for air cargo services, especially as the Changi East Industrial Zone (CEIZ) is expected to finish in the mid-2030s. By investing in Nexus One, CAG demonstrates its commitment to providing top-notch air logistics facilities. Thus, this investment strengthens Changi Airport’s status as a key air cargo hub in the region.

Furthermore, the new tenants in Nexus One will introduce modern air logistics handling skills. They will utilize smart technology and automation to enhance cargo management at Changi Airport. One important partner is Expeditors, a leading air freight forwarding company that aims to expand its logistics operations in Singapore.

In addition, Nexus One sets a high standard for green building practices. It aligns with Changi Airport’s sustainability goals and is the first facility in the Changi Airport Complex to earn the Green Mark Platinum Positive Energy Building (PEB) certification. This honor indicates the building performs exceptionally well environmentally. Specifically, Nexus One has become a super-low energy building, saving over 60% in energy while producing more renewable energy than it consumes.

Additionally, Changi Airport is expanding its solar panel installations across its facilities, including the Cargo Agent Buildings. By early 2025, Nexus One will have solar panels installed, allowing it to generate 140% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2028. This surplus energy will help power other airport operations, thereby enhancing Changi Airport’s overall energy sustainability.

Moreover, this project marks the first use of a collaborative contracting approach in Singapore’s private sector. This method improves teamwork among all involved by focusing on identifying risks early. As a result, all parties can finish projects faster and save costs.
