China Airlines, a leading Taiwanese airline, excels at the Aviation Challenge, hosted by the SkyTeam Alliance. This marks the airline’s third consecutive year participating in the event, where it stood out for its contributions to aviation and environmental excellence. China Airlines introduced a groundbreaking collaboration on passenger flights, setting a historic milestone for the Taiwanese aviation industry. This achievement earned the airline the Future Proofing Strategies award and a shortlist for other honors, including Best Team Collaboration and Best Climate Literacy.

In addition, the third edition of the Aviation Challenge welcomed non-member airlines, showcasing global sustainability efforts. Twenty-three airlines participated, presenting 33 flights, each pushing the boundaries of environmental responsibility. The event focused on three categories: Putting It Into Practice, Working Together, and Embedding It in the Business. It encouraged knowledge-sharing and competition, helping sustainability goals progress in the aviation industry.

Moreover, China Airlines led by example with its September 2024 demonstration flight, showing its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. The airline used the efficient A350-900 aircraft and conducted flights with 20% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to cut carbon emissions, achieving carbon neutrality for passengers and cargo. This initiative set a new standard for low-carbon operations and confirmed China Airlines’ leadership in sustainable aviation.

As part of its long-term goals, China Airlines invests in fuel-efficient technologies, improves fleet management, and participates in international sustainability efforts to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Additionally, its contributions to global climate research and sustainable aviation strengthen its role in the industry’s shift to greener operations.
