Delta Air Lines faced criticism this week after passengers waited up to 20 minutes to leave a Sky Club at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). The situation occurred because many guests tried to exit at the same time. Travelers felt frustrated as they had no choice but to queue for the only elevator.
The Delta Sky Club at Concourse T, Delta’s primary lounge in Atlanta, only has one elevator. This limits access, and when the lounge fills up, guests must wait. The delay proved inconvenient for passengers who rushed to board their flights. Delta staff explained the wait times, but frustration built.
The lounge design offers few alternatives. It has an emergency staircase, but it is restricted to emergencies only. Some passengers raised concerns about safety measures in non-emergency situations. Delta requested to add extra stairs, but the airport denied the request to ease congestion during busy times.
Passengers who faced this issue now suggest using other lounges at ATL to avoid delays. Delta operates eight Sky Clubs across the airport, with varying access points. Some lounges are more accessible, but others still face crowding, especially during peak travel times.
