Delta is upgrading its in-flight WiFi by integrating Hughes Fusion technology on its A321neo and A350 aircraft. This move strengthens its commitment to providing seamless internet access. With this latest enhancement, Delta ensures passengers stay connected from takeoff to landing.
The airline’s decision expands its partnership with Hughes, which already supplies in-flight connectivity for over 400 Delta aircraft. This includes Embraer E-jets, Mitsubishi CRJs, and Boeing 717s. Delta had previously chosen Hughes’ connectivity for its regional fleet in late 2023.
By installing this advanced system, Delta enhances internet performance on board. The new technology enables aircraft to use two satellite networks at the same time. As a result, passengers experience smoother and more reliable WiFi throughout their flight. This dual-network approach minimizes disruptions and ensures a stable connection.
Delta plans to roll out the upgraded WiFi on its Boeing 717 fleet in the second half of 2025. This deployment marks another step in improving in-flight services across multiple aircraft types.
The airline continues to expand its fleet, with 106 new jets expected in the coming years. Between 2025 and 2027, Delta will receive 80 A321neo aircraft, with more arriving later. The A350 fleet will also grow, with final A350-900 deliveries scheduled for 2025 and 2026. Additionally, the first A350-1000s will arrive between 2026 and 2027, followed by the rest after 2027.
By adopting Hughes’ latest in-flight connectivity, Delta enhances its onboard experience. Passengers can now enjoy high-speed internet access across more flights. This upgrade reinforces Delta’s dedication to offering top-tier travel technology.
