Denver International Airport (DEN) has unveiled a major expansion of Concourse A, making travel significantly easier for passengers. This new 120,000-square-foot boarding area, developed with Frontier Airlines, recently opened to the public. Located on the eastern edge, this $220 million facility highlights the airport’s focus on both efficient project management and timely delivery.
Construction began back in the summer of 2022. It transformed 83,000 square feet of existing space while also adding a 37,000-square-foot section. The area now features two parallel corridors, called north and south, which each lead to six updated gate waiting areas. As a result, travelers can now access 14 gates—nine remodeled and five brand-new. Frontier Airlines began limited operations in February 2024, and the entire area became fully operational by October 1, 2024.
Along with the expanded gates, the project also includes new office spaces and a maintenance facility. This further enhances Frontier Airlines’ operations at Denver International Airport. Therefore, the project not only improves the passenger experience but also continues to support the airport’s growth and modernization efforts.
The expansion provides a range of new amenities. These include charging stations, a nursing room, a pet relief area, family restrooms, and a companion care room. In addition, dining and shopping options include Snarf’s Sandwiches, Brothers BBQ, Breckenridge Brewery, and a CNBC shop. Furthermore, another food and beverage outlet is expected to open by mid-2025.
Travelers can easily access the Concourse A-East expansion by using the escalators near Gate A53. This leads to Gates A54–A84 through both corridors. As one of the busiest airports in the world, Denver International Airport plays a critical role in the region, contributing over $36 billion to Colorado’s economy each year.
