Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have launched a strategic joint venture to enhance air travel. As a result, this partnership introduces direct flights, connecting key cities in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Moreover, it strengthens economic ties and boosts tourism between these regions.
The agreement brings direct flights between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi, offering travelers more choices. Specifically, Ethiopian Airlines will start flights to Abu Dhabi on July 15. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways will launch its service to Addis Ababa on October 1. Consequently, these new routes improve connectivity and expand travel networks.
Pending regulatory approvals, both airlines will coordinate routes to maximize efficiency. Therefore, this joint effort increases flight frequency and enhances access to more destinations. In addition, the collaboration makes travel more seamless by integrating both carriers’ networks. As a result, passengers will experience improved convenience and connectivity.
Furthermore, this venture fosters deeper cooperation in frequent flyer programs, cargo, and aviation training. Thanks to this partnership, travelers from Ethiopia can explore Abu Dhabi’s attractions, including its vibrant cultural landmarks and scenic landscapes. Not to mention, the UAE’s capital offers modern experiences, from pristine beaches to world-class entertainment.
At the same time, Ethiopian Airlines continues expanding its global reach with this partnership. In fact, Abu Dhabi becomes its third UAE destination after Dubai and Sharjah. Additionally, the airline already operates over 120 weekly flights to the Middle East and Gulf region. Thus, this expansion strengthens its position in global aviation.
By linking key African cities like Dar es Salaam, Kampala, and Lusaka with major UAE and Asian hubs, the partnership improves accessibility. Likewise, passengers traveling to destinations like Colombo, Islamabad, Phnom Penh, and Krabi will enjoy better connectivity. As a result, this initiative enhances global mobility.
Notably, Ethiopian Airlines will operate the new route using Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. Because of this, passengers will enjoy a comfortable and efficient travel experience. From Addis Ababa, travelers can easily connect to various international and domestic destinations.
