Discover Airlines reached a major milestone in December 2024 by earning the prestigious EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certification. This achievement showcases the airline’s strong commitment to sustainability and transparent reporting. After a two-day external audit, auditors assessed the airline’s environmental management system and confirmed it met all standards.
EMAS, a European Union initiative, helps companies monitor and improve their environmental performance systematically. It builds on the ISO 14001 standard while also including additional requirements, such as strict legal compliance and transparent reporting. As a result, Discover Airlines now stands among the leading sustainable companies in the aviation industry.
Additionally, as part of the certification process, Discover Airlines published its first environmental statement, covering its performance from 2021 to 2023 in Frankfurt and Munich. This statement outlines the airline’s environmental impact and demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, aligning with the Lufthansa Group’s practices.
This certification marks an important step in Discover Airlines’ journey toward more sustainable aviation. Moving forward, the airline plans to update its environmental statement every year, reflecting new data and ongoing improvements.
Moreover, Discover Airlines integrates sustainability in all departments, both on the ground and in the air. The EMAS certification highlights the airline’s dedication to continuous improvement, thus setting an example for the industry with its transparent environmental practices.
