Disney’s Proposed Reflections Lakeside Lodge Hotel Project Takes a Step Forward

Walt Disney World appears to be making progress on its plans for a new hotel at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort property, as indicated by a recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) permit. The permit, which is for the construction of a mobile crane for a 10-story hotel, aligns with the location and description of Disney’s previously announced Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge project. You can find more information about Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort on their official website: Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

The Reflections resort, a proposed 900-room nature-themed hotel, is planned to include Disney Vacation Club villas, catering to the company’s timeshare customers. Situated next to Fort Wilderness, the property will offer access to Bay Lake, conveniently located east of the Magic Kingdom theme park. The FAA permit, which was filed for obstruction evaluation purposes, describes the use of a mobile crane with a maximum height of 240 feet above ground level for the hotel’s construction. The address listed in the permit matches the area where the Reflections hotel is proposed to be built. The permit indicates a work schedule spanning from October 14th, 2024, to August 14th, 2025. While Disney executives have not yet commented on the permit, past construction-related documents dating back to 2020 suggest ongoing activity related to the project. These documents include notices of commencement for various components of the resort, such as a table service restaurant, transportation dock, bus stop, covered walkway, pool restroom building, security kiosk, and an outdoor structure.
