Emirates Airlines celebrates a decade of service at Brussels Airport. Over the past ten years, the airline has flown around 2.4 million passengers between Dubai and Brussels. This milestone showcases Emirates’ strong performance on this popular route.
Growing Popularity of Emirates Flights
Emirates started its first flight from Brussels to Dubai on September 5, 2014. The route quickly became popular, leading to a second daily flight in October 2017. Even though flights were paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline quickly resumed service and now enjoys a 90% occupancy rate, similar to pre-Covid times.
Expanding Emirates’ Global Reach
Today, Emirates serves 144 destinations in 76 countries. This extensive network supports its ongoing success and growth in the global airline industry.
Strong Financial Growth and Aircraft Upgrades
For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Emirates Group reported a 15% increase in revenue, reaching $37.4 billion. The profit rose by 71%, reaching $5.1 billion. The group’s cash reserves are now a record $12.8 billion. To take advantage of this financial success, the airline started a $3 billion program two years ago to update its aircraft interiors. Brussels now hosts the newly updated Boeing 777-300, featuring improved seating and amenities.
Improved Passenger Comfort and Cargo Services
The new interior includes a “Premium Economy” class with leather seats, extra legroom, and footrests. In “Business Class,” the seating is now arranged with two seats in the center aisle and one at each window, replacing the old 2-3-2 layout. Emirates also runs 14 cargo-only flights from Brussels each week. These flights have transported about 230,300 tonnes of cargo, including chocolates, perishable items, perfumes, medicines, and live animals like horses.
