Emirates adds flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, supporting African tourism. This expansion connects Africa with Asia, the Middle East, and other regions through Dubai. Emirates’ growth enhances travel infrastructure and boosts local tourism, trade, and economies.
Starting October 27, Emirates upgraded its Dubai–Entebbe route from five weekly flights to daily, adding 718 seats weekly with its Boeing 777-300ER. Uganda now serves as a vital hub, linking East Africa with major global destinations like India, Canada, and the United States.
Beginning January 1, 2025, Emirates will increase flights to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The country aims to become a major tourism destination, and the airline supports this growth with more flights.
On March 1, 2025, Emirates will add a fourth daily flight to Johannesburg, restoring service to pre-pandemic levels. This increase boosts one of Africa’s busiest travel hubs. After completing these additions, Emirates will operate 161 weekly flights to African cities, enhancing access for travelers needing global connections.
This expansion provides more seats, flexible scheduling, and smooth connections, strengthening the airlines’ role in Africa’s travel sector. Emirates remains dedicated to boosting African tourism, trade, and economic growth by enhancing global connections.
