Etihad Airways Doubles Its African Routes Next Year

Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, is expanding its African route network in 2025. Consequently, the airline will double its African destinations, significantly strengthening its presence on the continent. This growth supports Etihad’s broader aim to enhance global connectivity and provide more travel options to Africa.

At present, Etihad operates flights to four African cities: Johannesburg, Casablanca, Cairo, and Mahé. However, next year, the airline will add four more destinations, bringing the total to eight. As a result, this expansion will improve travel options for passengers, linking them to key African cities through Abu Dhabi.

Moreover, Etihad will begin flying to Nairobi, Kenya, on December 15, 2024. After a brief pause, the airline will operate four weekly services starting next month. Therefore, this addition will strengthen Etihad’s presence in East Africa.

In addition, Etihad plans to further expand its African network. For instance, it will launch flights to El Alamein, Egypt, in July 2025. Additionally, the airline will introduce new routes to Tunis, Tunisia, and Algiers, Algeria, thereby enhancing travel options across the continent.

Furthermore, the airline will upgrade flights to Johannesburg and Casablanca to daily services, improving access to these busy airports. Etihad aims to add 10 new destinations each year, including more African cities. By 2030, the airline will operate daily flights to all its destinations.

As Etihad continues to expand its African network, it will further strengthen Abu Dhabi as a prime destination for business and leisure travelers. This expansion will bring thousands of visitors to the UAE each year, consequently boosting its global tourism appeal.
