Etihad Airways is making headlines by adding Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) as its fourth Airbus A380 destination. Starting November 1st, the Abu Dhabi-based airline will resume the A380 service to Paris. Beginning January 15th, Etihad will increase the frequency to double daily and introduce the Boeing 787-9 on this route.
Etihad’s A380 Returns to Paris
After a challenging period during the COVID-19 pandemic, Etihad Airways’ Airbus A380 returns to Paris. This flight will replace the Airbus A350 that began operating on the route in March 2022. The new schedule for the A380 includes:
- Flight EY31: Departs from Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 02:40, and arrives at Charles De Gaulle (CDG) at 07:30. Flight time: 7h50m.
- Flight EY32: Departs from Charles De Gaulle (CDG) at 09:45, and arrives at Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 19:25. Flight time: 6h40m.
From January 15th, Etihad will also introduce the following Boeing 787-9 flights:
- Flight EY33: Departs from Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 14:20, and arrives at Charles De Gaulle (CDG) at 19:10. Flight time: 7h50m.
- Flight EY34: Departs from Charles De Gaulle (CDG) at 20:45, and arrives at Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 06:25. Flight time: 6h40m.
Etihad’s A380 Route Expansion
With Paris joining the roster, Etihad Airways will operate four Airbus A380 routes. The airline plans to conduct 125 A380 rotations from Abu Dhabi in November. The routes will include:
- Mumbai, India (BOM) – 13 flights
- Paris, France (CDG) – 30 flights
- New York, USA (JFK) – 30 flights
- London Heathrow, UK – 52 flights
Etihad’s network has nearly recovered to its pre-pandemic levels, though with reduced frequencies. The airline previously served up to five destinations with the A380 simultaneously.
Current A380 Fleet Status
Etihad Airways currently operates ten Airbus A380s. The airline owns eight of these aircraft, while Baz Aircraft Leasing One owns the remaining two. Four of Etihad’s newest A380s are currently in service, including the leased ones. An additional aircraft (A6-APF) is set to return to service on November 15th. The remaining five A380s are stored in Europe, with two in Teruel, Spain, and three in Tarbes, France.
