Go Further, Smarter—China Eastern Adds New Global Routes

China Eastern Airlines is making aggressive moves this summer to dominate long-haul routes across Europe and Asia. The airline introduced six new international routes, targeting strategic hubs in Turkey, France, and Kazakhstan. This bold step strengthens China Eastern Airlines’ global reach while supporting China’s broader aviation ambitions.

Direct flights from Xi’an to Istanbul now connect western China to a critical intercontinental hub. The route increases access to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Meanwhile, a new ShanghaiAlmaty service builds stronger links between China and Central Asia. This expansion supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative, deepening economic partnerships across the region.

Additionally, China Eastern Airlines now offers a direct route from Nanjing to Paris. This service fills a gap for travelers in eastern China seeking nonstop access to France. Previously, Paris could only be reached through connections from other cities. The Nanjing–Paris route boosts tourism and commerce between the two nations.

The airline also plans more European services from Shanghai, targeting Geneva, Milan, and Copenhagen. These routes will benefit from China Eastern Airlines’ access to Russian airspace. Unlike many European carriers, the airline can fly shorter, fuel-efficient routes over Russia. This advantage lowers costs and travel time, creating an edge in a competitive global market.

China Eastern Airlines’ expansion marks a shift in China’s aviation strategy. The focus is now on inland cities like Xi’an, rather than just coastal giants. As travel demand rebounds, China Eastern Airlines positions itself as a key bridge between Asia and Europe. This strategy not only improves connectivity but also boosts China’s role in global travel.
