Iberia Expands Flights to the U.S. with 14% More Seats

Iberia is set for a record-breaking summer in 2025, boosting its presence in the U.S. with a 14% increase in available seats. As the airline strengthens its network, it will also expand across Latin America, offering the highest connectivity levels in its history.

Since the U.S. remains a crucial market, Iberia is making strategic moves to increase capacity. This summer, the airline will operate up to 140 weekly flights between Spain and the U.S., providing 1.1 million seats. Compared to summer 2024, this expansion marks a 14% rise, reinforcing the airline’s transatlantic dominance.

Meanwhile, Boston and Washington will experience the most significant growth. Boston will now have two daily flights instead of one, while Washington’s service will expand from four weekly flights to daily. To enhance efficiency and comfort, the airline will deploy its latest Airbus A321XLR on these routes.

Additionally, the A321XLR will resume flights to Washington in mid-April after an initial schedule shift. Although Iberia currently operates just one of these aircraft, it plans to add seven more, boosting its long-haul network capabilities. With 182 seats across business and economy, the A321XLR provides comfort similar to larger aircraft.

Previously, Iberia used A330s and A350s for Boston and Washington, offering more seats per flight. However, the A321XLR allows the airline to optimize routes with lower demand. As a result, it ensures profitability while maintaining year-round service.

Beyond the U.S., Iberia is also expanding across Latin America. This summer, it will offer 3.2 million seats between Spain and Latin America, a 4% rise from 2024. In total, the airline will operate over 300 weekly flights, connecting Spain with 18 airports across 16 countries.

Furthermore, major growth will occur in Buenos Aires and São Paulo, each gaining three extra flights weekly. Likewise, Lima will also see an additional frequency, bringing its service to two daily flights by May 2025.

Ultimately, Iberia remains committed to strengthening its global footprint. With more flights, newer aircraft, and expanded connectivity, the airline is gearing up for its most ambitious summer yet.
