Japan Airlines Launches Same-Day Hotel Baggage Delivery

Japan Airlines has introduced a new service that delivers baggage straight to hotels in Tokyo on the same day. This service is available for international visitors arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Terminal 3. Travelers can now enjoy exploring the city without the hassle of carrying heavy luggage on their first day.

The service, known as the “JAL Same-day Delivery Service,” is open to all travelers, not just foreign nationals. Even Japanese residents can take advantage of it. Importantly, travelers do not need an airline ticket or passport to use this service, making it accessible to anyone arriving at Haneda’s Terminal 3. The initiative aims to provide a stress-free travel experience by relieving tourists of the burden of heavy baggage, especially during their airport-to-hotel transfer. As Tokyo’s transportation system is often crowded, this service helps ease the pressure on travelers and on public transport.

The delivery service will cost around 4,500 yen (roughly $29.50) for each piece of luggage, as long as the bag meets the size and weight limits. Bags must be under 160 cm in total dimensions and weigh no more than 20 kg. Compared to third-party services, this price is quite affordable, offering a convenient solution for travelers wishing to avoid the discomfort of hauling bags through crowded streets and stations.

To use the service, travelers simply need to visit the JAL ABC Counter at Terminal 3. They can easily reserve and pay using a 2D barcode found on a nearby poster. A customer service representative will guide them through the next steps. The service operates between 04:00 and 18:00, with deliveries reaching hotels by the evening, depending on the time of check-in. Currently, the delivery service covers 14 districts in Tokyo, including Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Minato. Japan Airlines plans to expand this service to even more areas in the future.

However, Japan Airlines does not accept items like golf bags or bicycles for delivery. Also, the service is limited to hotel deliveries, so bags cannot be sent to private homes or other locations.
