KLM is making travel easier with a new lost baggage recovery feature. The airline now supports Apple’s Find My Share Item Location, allowing travelers to quickly track misplaced luggage with enhanced privacy.
Passengers can now share the location of their AirTag or other Find My network accessories with KLM’s customer service. This direct sharing helps the airline locate lost bags faster. Travelers can create a Share Item Location link using the Find My app on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. KLM has seamlessly integrated this link into its lost baggage reporting system.
Privacy remains a top priority in this feature. The shared location automatically stops once the luggage is found. Travelers can also disable it manually at any time. If left active, the link expires after seven days. This ensures users have complete control over their data.
Apple’s Find My network uses over a billion Apple devices to detect lost items via Bluetooth. The system anonymously reports the location back to the owner. The entire process is end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that no third party can access location data.
To use this feature, passengers must update their Apple devices to iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, or macOS 15.2 or later. By integrating this system, KLM enhances customer experience and reduces lost baggage stress. This innovative solution reinforces the airline’s commitment to using technology for smoother travel.
