Korean Air recently marked a major milestone with the 50th anniversary of its Paris route. This iconic route has connected South Korea and France since 1975. In fact, it became the airline’s first venture into Europe. Over the years, Korean Air helped strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two countries. Moreover, the route remains one of its longest-running international services.
To celebrate this legacy, Korean Air organized two events in Paris. At Charles de Gaulle Airport, the airline welcomed travelers with souvenirs and a special giveaway. Meanwhile, it also hosted a formal ceremony at the Korean Cultural Center. These activities honored loyal passengers and highlighted the route’s importance.
Originally, Korean Air began operations to Paris when few Asian carriers reached Europe. Back in 1975, it launched flights from Seoul’s Gimpo Airport to Paris Orly. These flights carried both passengers and cargo on a twice-weekly schedule. Then, in 1982, the airline shifted to France’s largest hub, Charles de Gaulle Airport. As a result, the route grew into a crucial link for business, tourism, and diplomacy.
Notably, this route also marked the start of a strong partnership with Airbus. At that time, Korean Air became one of the first non-European airlines to buy from Airbus. This early trust helped the manufacturer gain confidence in global markets.
Today, Korean Air continues to focus on long-haul excellence. After the pandemic, it aims to expand routes and deepen international partnerships. Clearly, the Paris connection will stay at the heart of that mission.
