Korean Air proudly celebrates 30 years of service to San Francisco, linking two tech hubs. Since October 29, 1994, the airline has offered daily connections between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN).
To commemorate this milestone, Korean Air hosted a special event at SFO. The airline awarded the 30th passenger checking in for flight KE024 from San Francisco to Seoul with a complimentary round-trip ticket. All passengers also received anniversary gifts. These included a tote bag designed by artists from the Korean Association of New York and delicious Ghirardelli chocolates, celebrating San Francisco’s culinary scene.
The celebrations featured a dinner in downtown San Francisco. Representatives from Korean Air, the Korean Consulate, and industry partners attended. This gathering aimed to strengthen community ties and celebrate shared achievements.
Moreover, Korean Air maintains a robust schedule on this route, operating at least seven flights weekly, except during COVID-19 restrictions. This service facilitates travel for leisure and business. It also boosts economic exchanges, especially in technology and semiconductor sectors.
Korean Air currently operates the San Francisco route with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Last year, the airline transported about 176,000 passengers. This made it the second most popular route for Korean Air on the West Coast, after Los Angeles.
However, the airline faces competition from several carriers. Asiana Airlines, set to merge with Korean Air, operates daily flights to SFO using an Airbus A350-900. Additionally, United Airlines provides twice-daily service with a mix of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. Recently, Air Premia began flying from ICN to SFO with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Korean Air celebrates this significant milestone and reaffirms its commitment to excellent service and strong connections between Korea and San Francisco.
