Korean Air announces the relaunch of daily flights between Seoul Incheon and Kumamoto, effective November 24. This significant revival of the route follows a 27-year hiatus, reflecting the growing demand for travel to Japan.
Moreover, the resumption of this route aligns perfectly with the rising interest in Japanese destinations. Located in the heart of Kyushu, Kumamoto entices travelers with its unique blend of history and natural beauty. For instance, the region boasts remarkable attractions, such as Mount Aso, a colossal caldera volcano, and Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks. Additionally, visitors can explore the Kikuchi Castle ruins, which showcase stunning medieval architecture influenced by Korea’s Baekje Kingdom. To further enhance the experience, the picturesque Amakusa Islands and Kurokawa Onsen, a centuries-old hot spring village, highlight Kumamoto’s allure.
Furthermore, Kumamoto offers a pleasant climate and a rich cultural heritage. Travelers can indulge in celebrated local cuisine, thereby immersing themselves in the region’s flavors. The destination’s blend of cultural experiences and natural wonders provides an unforgettable journey for visitors.
Interestingly, the city is also famous for its lovable mascot, Kumamon. This charming black bear character, introduced in 2011, has become a beloved symbol of Kumamoto. Notably, it generates over 1 trillion yen annually, capturing hearts in Japan and beyond while rivaling characters like Hello Kitty.
In addition, Korean Air actively enhances its services to cater to the increasing interest in smaller Japanese cities. Starting October 27, the airline will boost the frequency of flights on the Seoul Incheon–Okayama and Kagoshima routes. Additionally, it will resume the Seoul Incheon–Nagasaki route, offering four weekly flights. These initiatives underscore Korean Air’s dedication to expanding connectivity and enriching travel opportunities for those wishing to explore Japan’s diverse cultural and natural landscapes.
As Korean Air revives its services, travelers can anticipate a vibrant journey filled with exploration and discovery. Ultimately, with the return of daily flights to Kumamoto, the airline invites adventure seekers to experience the hidden gems of Japan.
