Korean Air has launched a fresh identity with a sleek aircraft livery and updated branding. This redesign is the first major update in over 40 years. The airline revealed the new look on March 10, 2025, at its Seoul headquarters. A Boeing 787-10 showcased the modernized design, reflecting Korean Air’s global ambitions.
The rebranding aligns with Korean Air’s acquisition of Asiana Airlines, finalized in December 2024. The South Korean government is overseeing the merger, which will conclude by January 2027. Asiana Airlines will adopt the new branding after the transition.
The airline kept its signature sky-blue fuselage but added a sleek metallic finish. The redesigned “Korean” lettering replaces the full “Korean Air” title. The tail now features a deep blue taegeuk symbol with a modern touch.
The rebranding extends beyond aircraft. Korean Air has updated flight attendant uniforms, in-flight menus, and lounge interiors. These changes enhance passenger experience and align with industry trends.
The airline is repainting its fleet before completing the merger. All new planes will feature the updated livery. Asiana’s fleet will keep its current branding until after January 2027.
Korean Air planned to retire its Airbus A380s, Boeing 747-8s, and Airbus A220s in 2025. However, delays from Boeing and Airbus have postponed these retirements. The airline will keep older jets flying until replacements arrive.
With a bold identity and an expanding fleet, Korean Air is entering a new era. This transformation strengthens its global position while preserving its legacy as a top airline.
