Korean Air is transforming air travel by expanding its airport lounges and launching Premium Economy seating. As the airline prepares to merge with Asiana Airlines, these upgrades aim to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.
To accommodate growing traveler demand, Korean Air is making major upgrades at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. The Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing will double in size, ensuring more space for passengers. Furthermore, the airline will introduce Prestige Class Garden Lounges in both terminal wings. These new lounges will open in phases, starting in August 2025.
Since Asiana Airlines will relocate to Terminal 2, the airport expects a surge in travelers. As a result, Korean Air is expanding its lounge network to six locations. This expansion will increase total lounge space by 2.5 times, ultimately doubling seating capacity. Additionally, the redesigned First Class Lounge in the west wing will create a luxury hotel-like atmosphere. It will feature live kitchens serving fresh dishes, bartenders crafting premium cocktails, and a bakery offering croissants, pizzas, and desserts. Moreover, a signature noodle bar will provide freshly prepared meals.
Beyond Incheon, Korean Air is also upgrading its international lounges. The airline plans to revamp its Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK) airport lounges. These spaces will incorporate city-inspired designs, allowing travelers to experience a local touch before their flights. Meanwhile, the airline’s mobile app will offer real-time lounge updates, including locations, reservation options, and crowd levels. As a result, passengers will have an easier time planning their airport experience.
In addition to lounge improvements, Korean Air is introducing Premium Economy seating to meet growing demand. The airline will retrofit 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, replacing First Class cabins with Premium Economy. The first of these aircraft will enter service in late 2025, offering a three-class configuration: Prestige (Business), Premium Economy, and Economy. This fleet upgrade will continue through 2026, ensuring more passengers enjoy enhanced comfort on long-haul routes.
With these strategic enhancements, Korean Air is setting new industry standards. By improving both airport and in-flight experiences, the airline ensures travelers enjoy superior comfort, luxury, and convenience on every journey.
