LATAM continues to grow its operations by adding more aircraft to its fleet. The airline has expanded by 12% in the past two years, bringing in 30 new planes since January 2023. These additions include fuel-efficient Airbus NEO and Boeing 787 Dreamliner models, which consume up to 25% less fuel than older aircraft. This expansion helps LATAM improve efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
LATAM has now secured orders for over 120 aircraft set for delivery through 2030. These orders include direct purchases and lease agreements for both Airbus and Boeing planes. This investment ensures a steady fleet modernization, supporting the airline’s long-term growth. A key milestone in this strategy is the addition of 10 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which strengthens its long-haul operations and reinforces its leadership in Latin American aviation.
The airline has also focused on enhancing passenger experience by upgrading cabin interiors. Modern seating, advanced in-flight entertainment, and refreshed designs provide a more comfortable journey. So far, all narrow-body aircraft have received upgrades, while more than half of the wide-body fleet now features modernized interiors. In addition, LATAM has expanded its complimentary Wi-Fi service for passengers, covering all flights in Brazil and most routes in Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador.
Beyond passenger flights, LATAM has expanded its cargo division, now operating 21 dedicated freighter aircraft. This growth results from a fleet conversion program launched in 2021, where the airline transformed passenger planes into cargo aircraft. As a result, LATAM’s cargo capacity has increased by 70% compared to 2019, meeting rising demand across the region.
With 347 aircraft now in service, LATAM continues strengthening its position as a leader in Latin American aviation. The airline’s focus on fleet modernization, expanded connectivity, and enhanced passenger experience supports its long-term success. These investments ensure greater efficiency, increased comfort, and more sustainable operations for travelers and cargo clients alike.
