The tragedy unfolded in April 2023 while the man was flying to attend a funeral. Crew members delayed aid until passengers exited the aircraft. The family believes a faster response could have saved him.

The man boarded American Airlines Flight 1444 from Louisville to Dallas on April 28, 2023. He appeared healthy at the start. After landing, he collapsed while leaving the aircraft. Airline staff helped him stand but still let him board a connecting flight. The lawsuit says the crew should have stopped him from continuing. Flight staff hold the authority to deny boarding during visible medical distress.

As his health declined, emergency teams arrived on site. The man struggled to breathe and drifted in and out of consciousness. Firefighters gave oxygen before paramedics took over. They moved him to an ambulance immediately. There, he suffered cardiac arrest. The team performed chest compressions and used an AED twice. Despite these efforts, he passed away shortly after.

This event underscores the need for urgent care on flights. In many cases, quick action can save lives. American Airlines has not yet addressed the family’s legal claims.
