London Gatwick Airport starts 2025 on a high note, welcoming over 8.4 million passengers in the first quarter. This surge highlights the airport’s rising popularity as travelers take advantage of new flight options. The airport has added more services to high-demand destinations, such as Bangkok, Rimini, and Singapore, significantly boosting passenger traffic.
The Easter period promises even more travel excitement, with top destinations like Malaga, Barcelona, and Dubai in high demand. The busiest travel day is expected to be Friday, April 18, when 764 flights are scheduled to depart, underscoring Gatwick’s role as a key hub for international flights.
To improve the passenger journey, Gatwick has introduced state-of-the-art Next Generation security scanners. These advanced machines make the security process faster and more efficient. Now, travelers no longer need to remove electronics or liquids from their hand luggage. In fact, 98% of passengers cleared security in under five minutes during the first quarter, a clear testament to the system’s effectiveness.
As the airport continues to grow, it anticipates even more exciting developments. A new long-haul flight to Bahrain increased Singapore Airlines services, and additional short-haul routes to Rimini, Dusseldorf, and Alesund are all set to enhance the airport’s offerings.
With these improvements in place, London Gatwick is prepared for a busy and seamless Easter travel season. The airport’s investment in advanced technology and new routes ensures a smooth journey for all passengers.
