Lufthansa has launched a convenient baggage collection service at Frankfurt Airport. Through its partnership with AirPortr, the airline now allows passengers to check in their bags from home or a hotel. This service reduces the hassle of carrying luggage to the airport and ensures a smoother journey.
Passengers can book the service online up to 36 hours before departure. The service is available in Frankfurt and nearby cities, with prices starting at $26. After collection, the luggage is sealed, securely transported, and checked in at the airport. Travelers receive a tracking link and a digital tag receipt, allowing them to monitor their bags in real-time. Upon arrival, they can bypass baggage drop-off and head straight to security, making the airport experience much faster.
Lufthansa’s goal is to improve passenger comfort by eliminating common travel stress. The baggage collection service is especially useful for those using public transport. AirPortr reports that most of its customers prefer public transit when they do not have to carry luggage. The service also offers flexibility, with different pricing options based on pick-up times and urgency.
Passengers staying 12 km from Frankfurt Airport, for instance, can choose the super-saver slot for $26, which allows a six-hour window. A four-hour slot costs $31, while a premium two-hour window starts at $36. For select destinations, passengers can also have their baggage delivered to their final address, eliminating the need to wait at baggage claim.
Lufthansa already offers digital baggage tracking and self-service kiosks at major airports like Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich. The airline’s collaboration with AirPortr enhances these services by offering a seamless baggage-handling experience. With growing demand, Lufthansa plans to expand the service to more locations soon.
