American Airlines is strengthening its presence in Costa Rica with expanded flight services to Liberia International Airport. As a result, more travelers will have convenient access to this popular destination. With additional flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and an extended Philadelphia route, tourism and business travel between the two countries will continue to grow.
Starting March 6, American Airlines will increase its flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Liberia (LIR). Specifically, the airline will now operate two daily flights from Sunday through Friday and one flight on Saturdays. These flights will land at 11:13 AM and depart at 12:13 PM. Furthermore, passengers will travel on an Airbus A321, which accommodates 190 people per trip.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia (PHL)–Liberia (LIR) route, which initially launched as a seasonal service in December 2024, will now operate until May 3. Initially set to end on March 30, this route remains the only direct connection between Philadelphia and Costa Rica. Consequently, travelers can now enjoy an extended period of seamless access between these destinations. Since seasonal schedules may change, passengers should regularly check American Airlines’ website for updates.
Additionally, American Airlines continues to connect Liberia with major U.S. hubs, including New York, Miami, Charlotte, Chicago, and Dallas. Thanks to these direct routes, travelers can now reach their destinations more efficiently. Moreover, this expanded network ensures smoother connections across North America.
Since Costa Rica remains a top destination, American Airlines continues to dominate as the leading U.S. carrier in the country. At Liberia International Airport, travelers can access local services such as car rentals, restaurants, and easy transportation to the region’s scenic beaches. To avoid any travel disruptions, passengers should review passport and visa requirements before departure.
In 2024, Liberia International Airport welcomed over 1.9 million passengers, setting a new record. Notably, North America remains its largest market, further highlighting the region’s strong travel demand. Therefore, the latest flight expansions will reinforce Costa Rica’s role as a key player in global tourism.
