Air India and Air New Zealand have signed an MoU to strengthen travel between India and New Zealand. As a result, this partnership introduces a new codeshare agreement, providing better connectivity and seamless travel options for passengers. Moreover, it paves the way for potential direct flights in the future.

The agreement covers 16 routes, linking major Indian cities with New Zealand through transit points in Singapore and Australia. Specifically, travelers from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai can now connect more efficiently to destinations like Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown. Consequently, this expansion simplifies booking and enhances accessibility.

Furthermore, the MoU aims to promote tourism and business between both nations. Since demand for travel is growing, improved air connectivity increases visitor numbers and strengthens economic ties. Additionally, both airlines expect a significant rise in inbound and outbound travel as a result of this collaboration.

At the same time, discussions about launching a direct flight between India and New Zealand have gained momentum. If regulatory approvals align with aircraft deliveries, a direct route could become a reality by 2028. Thus, this new service would boost travel convenience and strengthen bilateral relations.

New Zealand’s tourism sector sees India as a key growth market. In fact, millions of Indian travelers are actively considering visiting the country, driven by its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. Because of this, the MoU supports this rising demand by offering better travel options and enhancing route efficiency.
