Qatar Airways Adjusts U.S. Flight Expansion for New York & LA

Qatar Airways reduces its planned US expansion for summer 2025. The airline serves over 100 weekly flights to 11 US destinations and initially aimed to increase flights to Los Angeles and New York. However, it revised these plans in December 2024, choosing to maintain current frequencies instead.

The airline planned to boost flights on the Doha-Los Angeles route from seven to ten weekly flights between March 30 and October 25, and up to 14 weekly flights during peak summer months. For the Doha-New York route, it was expected to increase from 18 to 21 weekly flights between May 31 and September 29. Despite these plans, Qatar Airways canceled the additional flights, focusing on sustaining the current seven weekly flights to Boston, fewer than the 10 weekly flights in 2024.

Qatar Airways connects 11 US cities, including major hubs like New York, Dallas, and Miami. The airline has been serving the US market since 2007, starting with flights to Newark and Washington. Currently, New York-JFK has 19 weekly flights using Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft. Dallas Fort Worth follows with 14 weekly flights, and Miami offers 12 weekly flights.

While Qatar Airways scaled back plans for Los Angeles and New York, it continues to expand globally. The carrier will resume flights to Damascus, Syria, in January 2025, marking its 180th destination. This move highlights its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity, offering more travel options.

Qatar Airways’ strategic adjustment reflects the current market conditions. Despite the revised plans, it remains a dominant force in international air travel, constantly improving services to meet passenger demand.
