A model and actress has initiated legal action against American Airlines, asserting that she suffered significant injuries after consuming a drink that contained \”broken plastic.\”
Shana Wall, 51, known for her appearance on the twelfth season of The Amazing Race and her past relationship with TV host Ryan Seacrest in the early 2000s, claims in her lawsuit that she sustained damage to her throat, esophagus, vocal cords, and digestive system.
Wall\’s injuries reportedly occurred when she was served a drink in a glass that had “broken plastic and shards” during an American Airlines flight from JFK Airport to Rome on May 1.
Filed on August 12, the lawsuit alleges that the airline \”had a responsibility to provide beverages and food that were uncontaminated and safe for consumption,” yet instead \”created and maintained a dangerous, defective, and unsafe condition aboard the airplane.\”
According to court documents, American Airlines provided passengers with plastic glasses for their drinks during the flight.
Wall’s lawsuit describes the beverage as “contaminated” and “unfit for human consumption,” leading to multiple severe and “permanent” injuries following her ingestion of the unspecified drink.
The reality TV personality asserts that the beverage containing alleged plastic fragments caused her to experience illness, discomfort, incapacity, and confinement at home.
Consequently, Wall claims she has lost enjoyment in life and has been unable to fulfill her professional responsibilities. This situation has led to financial losses due to lost wages along with ongoing medical expenses related to her injuries.
She is pursuing unspecified damages based on claims of negligence.
“The aforementioned injuries were solely caused by the negligence, gross negligence, willful misconduct, reckless behavior, and quasi-criminal actions of the Defendant as well as their agents, employees, pilots, flight attendants, and others,” states the lawsuit.
