Ryanair is set to make summer 2025 even more exciting for travelers flying from Norwich. The airline has announced three new routes to Alicante, Faro, and Malta. Moreover, it is increasing the frequency of flights to Alicante, giving passengers more options. With Europe’s lowest fares, Ryanair ensures affordable and convenient travel to these popular destinations.
However, while Ryanair expands its operations, a government policy threatens to slow its growth. The Labour government has decided to raise Air Passenger Duty (APD) by £2 per passenger for short-haul flights starting in 2026. As a result, this extra charge will make holidays abroad more expensive for British families. Furthermore, it could discourage international tourists, pushing them toward countries like Hungary, Sweden, and Italy, which are lowering aviation taxes.
Consequently, Ryanair believes this tax increase will weaken the UK’s tourism sector and make the country less competitive. In contrast, other European nations are reducing fees to attract more travelers. Therefore, Ryanair urges the government to reverse this decision. Removing the APD hike would support regional airports, boost tourism, and strengthen the economy.
At the same time, Ryanair’s new routes highlight its commitment to providing more travel opportunities. Although the airline continues to expand, rising travel costs could slow future growth. Additionally, increasing taxes will put the UK at a disadvantage compared to other European nations. Instead of making travel more expensive, the government should focus on policies that encourage tourism and economic expansion.
Overall, Ryanair remains dedicated to offering budget-friendly flights and improving connectivity. Hence, the airline calls for the immediate removal of the APD hike. By doing so, the government can attract more tourists, create jobs, and ensure a thriving travel industry.
