Ryanair Opens Europe Even Wider — 10 New Winter Routes from Alicante Take Off

Ryanair is set to strengthen its European presence with a major winter 2025 expansion from Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport. The airline will add 10 new routes across key destinations in Slovakia, Austria, Poland, the UK, Sweden, and Spain. This move reinforces Ryanair’s growing influence in southern Europe and supports its ongoing mission to make air travel more affordable and connected.

The airline will base 16 aircraft at Alicante-Elche Airport with an investment exceeding $1.6 billion. This decision highlights its long-term commitment to the region and its growing role in the European aviation market. Ryanair continues to play a vital part in Alicante’s tourism economy, which serves as a major gateway to Costa Blanca destinations such as Benidorm and Calpe.

The new winter routes will operate between November 2025 and March 2026. Ryanair will also increase flight frequencies on several existing routes to high-demand cities such as Milan, Marrakesh, Budapest, and Edinburgh. This adjustment aims to improve travel flexibility and accommodate the surge in demand for both leisure and family travel during the colder months.

The expanded schedule will benefit both international visitors and local residents. Increased frequencies and new routes will bring more tourists to Costa Blanca, boosting hotel stays, restaurants, and transport services. Ryanair’s decision to expand during the winter season also reflects confidence in Spain’s tourism resilience and continued passenger growth.

While Ryanair faces challenges like higher airport charges, the airline remains determined to maintain low fares and add more seats across Spain. The expansion demonstrates its strong belief in Alicante’s potential as a core European hub and reinforces its position as one of the continent’s most competitive airlines.
