San Jose International Airport saw a decline in passenger traffic in March 2025, dropping by 5.4% compared to March 2024. Despite this, new nonstop Delta Air Lines flights to Las Vegas and Detroit are expected to boost the airport’s recovery this year.
Approximately 880,100 passengers used the airport in March, down from 930,800 in the previous year. Over the past 12 months, the airport served 11.65 million passengers, a 1.1% decrease from the previous year. While the numbers fell slightly, March traffic was better than February 2025, which recorded only 746,200 passengers, a 17.9% increase over the previous month. Additionally, December 2024 saw over 1 million passengers, showing promise for future growth.
The first quarter of 2025 continued the decline that began last year, with a 2.7% drop in traffic from 2024. However, the airport is optimistic about its future as Delta prepares to launch new routes to Las Vegas and Detroit. Starting May 7 and July 7, these nonstop flights could attract more travelers to the region, helping to recover the recent traffic decline.
With these new routes, San Jose International Airport could see a sharp rebound in passenger traffic later in 2025, reversing the trend of declining numbers.
