Seattle-Tacoma Unveils New Terminal Space for Holiday Rush

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is preparing for a busy holiday season with exciting new developments. The airport will open additional terminal space next week, just in time for the holiday rush. This new area, located on the east side of the Alaska Airlines Ticketing Lobby, is part of the ongoing SEA Gateway Project. It aims to improve the passenger experience.

During the holiday period, Seattle-Tacoma expects nearly 1.5 million travelers between November 21 and 30. The new space will help reduce congestion, especially for Alaska Airlines passengers. Travelers may have noticed barricades in this area, but the airport will remove them soon to create more room.

Some airport areas are still under construction. The effects of the summer cyberattack continue to impact some services. With a large number of passengers expected, the airport urges travelers to plan ahead and arrive early to avoid delays.

For Thanksgiving, Seattle-Tacoma expects peak travel days similar to last year. However, the numbers will not match the summer’s busiest days. The highest travel days are November 27, November 30, and November 26, with about 172,000, 166,000, and 161,000 travelers, respectively.

The SEA Gateway Project is modernizing the north-end ticketing areas. The airport added extra security lanes to manage the holiday crowds. The airport recommends using SEA Spot Saver to minimize wait times.

Travelers should arrive early to avoid peak congestion. Arrive two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. The airport’s parking services are in high demand. Travelers should secure a spot in advance.

Seattle-Tacoma continues to grow. This year, it is on track to exceed pre-pandemic travel levels. The airport now serves more than 37 airlines and numerous destinations. The growing capacity will enhance the travel experience for increasing passenger numbers.
