Christchurch Airport is gaining stronger links with Asia as Singapore Airlines ramps up summer services. The airline has announced 46 additional return flights, meeting a sharp rise in demand between New Zealand and key international markets. This seasonal increase highlights the airline’s long-standing role in connecting Christchurch with Singapore and wider Asia.
This move brings more than just extra flights. It improves options for both leisure and business travelers heading to or from Christchurch. As a result, the South Island becomes more accessible to global travelers. These flights also improve cargo movement, benefiting exporters needing fast, direct routes to international markets.
Singapore Airlines continues its legacy of commitment to Christchurch. Since 1986, the airline has helped open up travel and trade between the two cities. The upgraded schedule from November 2025 to February 2026 reflects rising travel demand and trade growth. These flights will operate multiple times a week using modern aircraft with ample passenger and cargo capacity.
The added connectivity plays a vital role in tourism recovery. Visitors from Asia and Europe will find Christchurch more reachable during the summer months. This supports local tourism businesses and helps the city regain its status as a preferred destination. Exporters also gain, with 64 more tons of freight capacity added during the peak season.
Singapore Airlines strengthens its network while deepening its strategic relationship with Christchurch Airport. These changes signal strong confidence in travel growth and economic revival. With better travel options and more efficient cargo solutions, Christchurch strengthens its place as the South Island’s international gateway.
