Southwest Airlines just made travel across Florida faster and easier. Starting August 5, 2025, the airline will launch two daily nonstop flights between Sarasota–Bradenton and Orlando. These flights reduce travel time and help both tourists and professionals get around the state with less hassle. Florida travelers can now skip the long Interstate 4 drive and choose a quicker, 55-minute flight instead.
The new service links two of Florida’s busiest cities. Orlando’s theme parks, business centers, and entertainment districts will now feel closer than ever to Sarasota’s beaches and cultural spots. Since Southwest Airlines continues to expand in Florida, this route adds to its growing list of destinations within the state.
Travelers can expect affordable fares starting at just $49. Booking early helps passengers lock in these low rates. Southwest Airlines also rewards frequent flyers with points on every trip, making this new route a smart option for budget-conscious travelers.
SRQ Airport has recently upgraded its facilities with a brand-new concourse and an observation deck. The airport now features kid-friendly areas and scenic views, improving the experience for travelers of all ages. These improvements make SRQ a perfect hub for passengers flying to Orlando.
Southwest Airlines remains the only carrier offering nonstop service on this route. As a result, passengers now have a faster, more affordable alternative to long road trips or expensive connecting flights.
Alongside this new Sarasota-Orlando route, Southwest Airlines will soon launch other Florida flights, increasing its presence statewide. Though the airline plans job reductions in other areas, its Florida expansion shows strong commitment to the region.
