Southwest Airlines Brings You Direct Access to Chicago Midway—Nonstop Flights Are Back!

Southwest Airlines resumes nonstop flights between Chicago Midway and Indianapolis International Airport in 2025. The carrier will offer two daily flights, restarting a route that had been paused for nearly five years. Starting in August 2025, passengers can enjoy this year-round service. Moreover, Southwest also launches a new direct route to Nashville next spring.

This marks an important milestone for Indianapolis International Airport. The addition of Chicago Midway as a destination increases the total number of nonstop locations to 52. Southwest will be the only airline flying this route from Indianapolis, although travelers can also fly between the cities via Chicago O’Hare. Consequently, this popular domestic route strengthens Southwest’s presence in the region.

In addition to connecting Indianapolis to Chicago Midway, Southwest Airlines expands its services. This route adds convenience for travelers visiting Chicago’s bustling airport and Southwest’s wide range of destinations. As a result of this expansion, Southwest Airlines becomes the leading airline in Indianapolis, flying to over 18 destinations, including cities like Orlando, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

The airline will operate a double-daily schedule with Boeing 737 aircraft. This service will offer nearly 10,000 monthly seats in each direction, providing ample options for passengers traveling between Indianapolis and Chicago. Southwest Airlines restarted this route due to growing demand for nonstop travel and has therefore strengthened its commitment to connecting more cities across the country.

Additionally, with these additions, Southwest Airlines continues to grow its network. It offers more routes from major hubs like Orlando and Phoenix. Furthermore, the introduction of new domestic routes and the return of popular services will make it easier for passengers to travel across the United States, whether for business or leisure.

As the airline prepares for a busy year ahead, travelers can expect new services, including the upcoming Nashville route. Southwest Airlines’ expansion plans promise to deliver more options and better connections for customers looking to travel with ease and affordability.
