Southwest Just Expanded! Nashville Now Connected to Albany, Memphis, Tulsa & More!

Southwest Airlines is ramping up its operations with the launch of new routes from Nashville. These routes will connect Nashville to Albany, Memphis, and Tulsa, providing passengers with more travel options. Additionally, the airline is reintroducing flights to popular destinations like San Diego, Tampa, and Fort Myers. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity and improve travel experiences for both business and leisure travelers.

As part of its growth strategy, Southwest Airlines is increasing its presence at Nashville International Airport. The airline will soon offer new routes to Albany, Memphis, Tulsa, and Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport. It is also bringing back services to Albuquerque and Providence. This expansion will significantly benefit passengers traveling for both business and leisure. Furthermore, Southwest Airlines is planning to add flights from Nashville to Washington D.C. and El Paso for the upcoming Thanksgiving season. These moves reflect the airline’s effort to meet growing demand and offer more convenience to passengers.

However, Southwest is making a notable change to its well-known baggage policy. Starting May 28, 2025, passengers flying on regular fares will face a fee for checked baggage. This policy shift marks a change from the airline’s previous “Bags Fly Free” campaign. Only Rapid Rewards A-list members and business fare passengers will still enjoy free checked bags. The airline states this change is necessary to adjust to customer demands and improve profitability while continuing to provide excellent customer service.

This expansion and the adjustment in baggage policies signal Southwest Airlines’ strategy to adapt to evolving market needs. The new routes offer more travel opportunities, but passengers will have to adjust to the new baggage fees unless they qualify for exceptions.
