Southwest Airlines just raised the bar for cross-country travel. On June 5, 2025, the airline launched a nonstop flight from Long Beach to Baltimore/Washington, bringing the East Coast closer for Southern California travelers. This new service strengthens Southwest Airlines’ growing overnight network while giving passengers a hassle-free alternative to the typically congested routes via Los Angeles.
This nonstop route offers travelers a direct flight from Long Beach Airport at 8:45 p.m. and lands in Baltimore by 5:00 a.m. local time. This early arrival lets flyers start their day on the East Coast without delay. Those flying back catch a 1:20 p.m. departure from Baltimore, arriving in Long Beach at 3:45 p.m., allowing them to wrap up their trip before the evening.
Southwest Airlines has timed this service perfectly for both business and leisure travelers. The evening departure maximizes daytime hours, and the early arrival reduces fatigue. Travelers can now skip layovers, save time, and enjoy a seamless journey between coasts. The direct route especially benefits those traveling to Washington D.C., Baltimore, or anywhere along the Eastern Seaboard.
This route will operate daily until August 5, 2025. However, as travel habits shift during cooler months, Southwest Airlines will adjust the schedule to fit seasonal needs. The airline plans to turn the route into a seasonal offering starting in 2026, aligning its services with peak travel times.
With competitive pricing, flexible policies, and exceptional service, Southwest Airlines continues to reshape domestic travel. This new route reflects the airline’s bold strategy to provide nonstop access between key regions. It shows how airlines can still innovate to meet changing traveler expectations.
