SriLankan Airlines is preparing for a major fleet upgrade in June 2025. The airline will welcome a new Airbus A330-200, which will modernize its long-haul capabilities. As a result, SriLankan Airlines plans to improve its global reach, elevate service quality, and offer better passenger experiences. With growing demand, the airline aims to connect Sri Lanka to more international destinations for both business and leisure travel.
To strengthen operations, the new A330-200 comes equipped with fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60 engines. Therefore, it will help reduce emissions and cut fuel costs while supporting eco-friendly aviation goals. At the same time, this aircraft offers flexibility for long-distance routes, giving the airline a stronger edge in international markets.
In terms of comfort, SriLankan Airlines is raising the bar. The new cabin layout includes ergonomically designed seats and lie-flat options in business class. Moreover, each seat features a personal screen with updated in-flight entertainment. Thanks to noise-reduction technology, passengers can enjoy quieter and more relaxing journeys.
Soon after arrival, the airline will launch commercial operations with the A330-200. To ensure readiness, staff training and service preparations are already underway. This way, SriLankan Airlines can quickly integrate the aircraft and deliver high-quality service from day one.
Looking ahead, this move marks a turning point for SriLankan Airlines. Clearly, it shows the airline’s ambition to lead in aviation by improving comfort, performance, and sustainability. As air travel evolves, the airline is taking the right steps to stay ahead.
