Summer Travel Just Got Easier: Delta Air Lines Expands Direct Flights to Athens

Delta Air Lines is expanding its transatlantic presence this summer. The airline will add more weekly flights between Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and Athens International Airport. Delta is increasing flights from 7 to 13 weekly to strengthen its European operations for the busy season.

Delta’s expansion follows an announcement in late September 2024 about its largest transatlantic growth, planned for summer 2025. Initially, Delta intended to add four extra flights to Athens, bringing the total to 11 weekly services. However, Delta added two more flights, raising the total to 13.

In 2025, Delta will switch to Airbus A330-900s (Airbus A330neo), offering 281 seats. The A330neo has a four-class layout, including business, premium economy, economy plus, and economy class.

Delta will offer 168 flights from June to August 2025, with over 47,000 seats available. This marks a significant increase from last year’s 92 flights and 31,188 seats.

Delta continues to upgrade its fleet with newer aircraft. The A330neo, which averages 2.8 years old, operates on key international and domestic routes. These aircraft offer long-range capabilities and will serve routes like Atlanta to Athens.
