After nearly a decade, this upgrade positions Thailand as a reliable and compliant player in global aviation. Moreover, the new status aligns Thailand with international safety standards and allows Thai airlines to resume direct flights to the United States.
The return of Category 1 status marks a significant shift for Thailand’s aviation industry. Previously, direct flights between Thailand and the U.S. stopped in 2015 after a downgrade. However, with this upgrade, Thai carriers can now expand routes across the Pacific. Consequently, this revival of transpacific air travel will likely offer more travel options, increased competition, and better fares for passengers.
