Turkish Airlines will adjust its East African routes for summer 2025, enhancing connectivity between Turkey, Eritrea, and South Sudan. Starting March 31, 2025, the airline will change its Istanbul-Juba route, adding a stop in Asmara, Eritrea. This shift aims to strengthen Turkish Airlines’ presence in the region and increase service options for passengers to East Africa.

The new route structure aligns with Turkish Airlines’ strategic goals to improve multi-stop flights. Turkish Airlines will operate the Istanbul–Asmara–Juba route twice a week. This change helps optimize flight efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase accessibility to Eritrea and South Sudan. The shift benefits both business and leisure travelers, offering more options for flights to these regions.

Turkish Airlines expands its reach in Africa with this adjustment, focusing on areas with limited international flights. Passengers traveling to South Sudan, especially for business or diplomacy, will benefit from the new route. The stop in Asmara will create new opportunities for tourism and business travel in Eritrea.

While this change may slightly lengthen travel time, passengers won’t need to change planes between Asmara and Juba. The added stop in Asmara could raise interest in Eritrea’s cultural attractions, especially among travelers heading to South Sudan.
